Charlie Wu is one of the main characters in the book series by Kevin Kwan. He is the heir and the CEO of Wu Enterprises. Charlie was initially engaged to Astrid Leong. He was married to Isabel Wu, a socialite and fashionista, and had two daughters with her, Chloe and Delphine, (Isabel was already pregnant before they get married). Eventually, he and Astrid start dating again.
Information[]
Charlie dated Astrid Leong in their college years, introducing her to high fashion and haute couture, while helping her cultivate her sense of style due to her parents not wanting to "waste" money and spend millions of dollars on clothing.
After their scandalous break up, Charlie "moved on" and married Isabel Wu, however, their marriage didn't work out as Charlie was still in love with Astrid. Unfortunately, Isabel showed signs again of several mental issues, including Borderline Personality Disorder, that became a hazard to their daughters and was in denial to receive treatment.
Charlie asks Astrid’s maternal grandmother, Shang Su Yi, for permission to marry Astrid. Astrid and Charlie go to India, where Charlie proposes with her grandmother's ring, although Astrid is still married, but in the process of divorce with Michael Teo. They are photographed by the press caused by Isabel.
With the help of Michael, Isabel videotapes Astrid and Charlie having sex using Delphine's stuffed animal. In one of her episodes, she releases the video which causes Astrid to break off their engagement.
Charlie tries to track her down, but to no avail until he finds a clue and is told to follow several guides who take him to Palawan, where he sees Astrid.
Astrid and Charlie finally live together on an island named Palawan in the Philippines with Astrid's son Cassian. Charlie and Astrid catch up with the events that transpired and decide to stay together again. They have sex on the beach. When he wakes up, he searches for his trousers, only to be found by an Australian tourist. Together, they co-founded a school without walls where Cassian is studying.
In the Epilogue, he is with Astrid and Cassian celebrating Peik Lin and Alistair's wedding. They both enjoy 'living their life in sin' in Palawan, which according to Astrid, infuriates her parents. The last scene shows them dancing happily in each other's arms.
