He is a Singaporean history professor at New York University. He is son of Phillip and Eleanor Young and the husband of Rachel Chu.

Background[]

Nick is a member of the Shang-Young clan, one of the richest and most powerful families in Singapore. As the only child and son of Philip Young, who himself is the only son of Shang Su Yi and her husband Sir James Young, and his wife Eleanor Young, Nick is the presumptive heir to the Young family fortune. Growing up, Nick attended the Anglo-Chinese School in Singapore and later pursued a degree at the University of Oxford in England.

After graduating, Nick obtained a professorship teaching History at New York University, where he met and started a romantic relationship with Rachel Chu, an American-born Chinese Economics professor at the same University, whom he would eventually marry.

Appearance[]

Nick is described as having the chiseled features of a Canto-pop idol, tousled black hair, and thick eyelashes. He is also described as incredibly handsome by many women, and his relatives.

Personality[]

Nick is a charming young man, whom most women consider to be very attractive. He is friendly and good-natured, easily getting along with most who meet him. He is also more open and accepting than the rest of his wealthy family, never discriminating against others by their social class or background. Nick is also highly loyal to his friends and the places he cares about. He is devoted to his girlfriend and later wife Rachel, and was very upset to see Singapore change so much from what he remembered from his childhood. He was also one of the only members of his family determined to save Tyersall Park, one of his childhood homes.
